Introductory
Students start with the basics of being on camera. Beginning with camera slates and progressing through hitting their “marks,” eye lines, commercials, monologues and small scene study. Students learn the full gambit of being on a film set. This class focuses on the individual student primarily working through script analysis, research, and creating a character from within. They learn to “hurry up and wait” while exploring method acting techniques on film.
Intermediate
This class uses what students learned with the Introductory course and inserts other students into the mix. Students work more with other students for dialogue scenes, interacting with other actors, using their environment, and learn to “listen and adjust.” Learning some documentary techniques and the making of a short film, students will explore the technical challenges of acting on camera.
Advanced
This class separates the students into groups to put to use their skills learned in the previous two classes. In the separate groups, they are given themes. As a group they create a script, cast it, crew it, and film it in class. This shows them how to use their individual skills and how to work together for a common goal.
Masters
Committed actors learn to impact both themselves and their audience. It is designed for serious, focused and skillful students who want to build their skills, creativity and attitude to a professional level. Entrance by invitation or audition.
Audition and Protocol – Intensive
In this special intensive class the student prepares for the entire audition process. First breaking down the script, learning your character and their impact on the story. Our focus then shifts to the audition itself: entering the building, signing in, working with casting directors, camera skills and “being in the moment.” After earning the role, actors also learn the protocol and etiquette for being on set. It is designed for experienced students and professional actors.
Classes are taught one night per week for ten weeks.
The Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced, and Masters classes run for two hours.
The Audition and Protocol class runs for three hours (with the first and last class being two hours in length).
